Seasonal Employee Orientation

You may not be convinced that regular employees and seasonal employees are essentially the same, as it is obvious that seasonal employees work considerably fewer hours in a given year. That being said, it is imperative for you to realize your responsibility as the employer. You must follow the same employment laws when hiring, managing and terminating these employees as you do with regular employees.

It is important to orientate all employees to their positions so they have the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform their positions in a safe and productive manner. Also, it is common for seasonal employees to be terminated at the end of the season, and rehired at the start of the season next year. Do not make the mistake when you are rehiring these former employees in thinking that since they are returning you do not need to do a new physical or orientation. Many aspects can change for the rehired employee and the employer during the off-season months.
